Who We Are
About The Rest Memphis

The Pilgrim Rest Baptist Church was organized in 1920 on Texas Street with the Rev. A.T. Jackson as founder and pastor. A few years later the church moved to the corner of Adelaide and Texas Street. In 1926 the present Pilgrim Rest relocated itself at 1403 Kentucky Street.

In November of 2021 our church pulpit became vacant and soon thereafter began to elect a pastoral search committee to help navigate these uncertain times. The church voted on March 13, 2022, and elected Pastor Terrick M. Banks. Pastor Banks assumed his role officially on April 3, 2022. As we continue, we focus with faith for our future knowing that God still has more for this church through our leader Pastor Terrick Banks.

Our church offers a variety of services and programs designed to meet the spiritual, emotional, and physical needs of our congregation and the wider community. From inspiring worship services and thought-provoking Bible studies to dynamic youth programs and impactful community outreach initiatives, The Rest Memphis is dedicated to nurturing growth, fostering healing, and encouraging everyone to live a life of purpose and faith. Join us at The Rest Memphis and be a part of a community that believes in the transformative power of faith in action.

Meet Our Pastor
Pastor Terrick Banks

Hailing from Memphis, Minister Terrick Banks is a devout individual who heeded the call of God early in his life. His spiritual journey, marked by dedication and rigorous preparation, culminated in his licensing as a preacher at Lake Grove Missionary Baptist Church under the guidance of Pastor Brian Bartlett Sr.

A staunch advocate for education, Minister Banks boasts a commendable academic background. He is an alumnus of Southwind High School in Memphis, Tennessee, and proudly graduated from American Baptist College in Nashville, Tennessee. Currently, he is diligently pursuing his Master of Divinity, further enriching his ministerial capabilities. During his time in Nashville, he was spiritually mentored by Pastor Breonus Mitchell of Mt. Gilead Missionary Baptist Church. It was at Mount Gilead that Minister Banks served as Pastor of Assimilation and Discipleship, prior to his recent return to Memphis.

With almost a decade of preaching experience, Minister Banks' devotion and commitment have not gone unnoticed, with divine favor evident throughout his journey. His eloquence and calling have opened doors on the national stage, including engagements through the National Baptist Convention of America Inc., National Black Church Week, and numerous revivals and conferences.

In addition to his ministerial duties, he is the visionary behind the You Influence Your Generation Movement (#YIYG). This initiative reflects his passion for empowering young people and propelling them toward success across various life domains. The movement serves to inspire and guide youth in realizing their capacity to effect positive change within their communities. Minister Banks' guiding principle is encapsulated in his personal motto: "If each one reaches one, then everyone will be reached because YOU Influence Your Generation.”

Following a vacancy in November 2021, the church made a historic move by voting on March 13, 2022, to appoint Pastor Terrick M. Banks as their new senior pastor, making him the youngest to ever hold that position at the age of twenty-eight. He officially embraced his pastoral duties on April 3, 2022. As he continues his leadership, he focuses with faith for the future knowing that God Still has more for this church.
